Juice Cleanse FAQs
FAQs About Cleansing
How does Juice Cleansing work?
Juice Cleansing, or detoxing, is a process of removing foods from your diet that can interfere with the most basic healing processes in our bodies. Freshly pressed juices supply your body with densely packed nutrients and enzymes which are rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Juices are easily absorbed, shifting our body’s energy towards detoxing and regenerating. Suddenly, you will notice how much more energy you have and that you can appreciate and truly enjoy less processed foods.
Little energy is used by your digestive system during a juice cleanse. This allows your body to focus on detoxifying, renewing and healing. Although you might feel hungry and tired for the first couple of days, you’ll be surprised by how quickly your energy levels bounce back. It’s up to you how long you stay on your juice cleanse. You will benefit from cleansing for as little as 24 hours, but for a really deep and healing cleanse you should aim for at least 3-5 days. Feel free to contact us for more information!
Why is detoxification important?
Detoxification is the missing link to:
- Disease prevention, especially for immune-compromising diseases like cancer, arthritis, diabetes and fatigue syndromes.
- Even if your diet is good, a juice cleanse can restore immune strength against toxins that pave the way for disease-bearing bacteria, viruses and parasites.
- Detox programs aim to remove the cause of disease before we ever get sick.
How many calories are in each juice cleanse?
Each of our cleanse packages consists of between 700 – 800 calories. Please bear in mind that counting calories with raw foods and juice is not equivalent to the calories you count on a traditional diet of cooked and/or processed foods.
How do I prepare for my juice cleanse?
By following our recommendations and avoiding processed foods and toxins, you will gently prepare your body to get the most out of your cleanse. (see recommendations*)
How do I start the juice cleanse?
Every cleanse package comes with six 16 ounce juices labeled in order from one to six. Begin by drinking the first one (#1) and finish with the last one (#6) at least two hours before bed time. We find that customers feel best when they consume their beverages approximately two hours apart.
Each day, begin your juice cleanse with a glass of warm water with the juice of one lemon and a dash of cayenne (optional). One hour later you’re ready to drink your first juice! Look for the #1 on the label. Starting in the morning, we recommend drinking your juices at intervals of about two hours and consuming your last juice (#6) approximately two hours before going to bed.
Can I eat during my juice cleanse?
At the end of the day you know your body best, so it is up to you. We recommend a 100% juice cleanse, if possible, because eating slows down the cleansing process. If you do decide to supplement with foods, keep it raw and plant based.
Why should I do a juice cleanse?
Juicing is a great opportunity to enhance your immediate and long-term health, no matter what shape your body is in. (*link to benefits of juicing)
When is a good time to cleanse?
The optimal time to cleanse is when you can create the best circumstances to support your cleanse. Do your cleanse when you have some free time to reflect or rest, uphold your willpower and create intention around your cleanse. In addition, cleansing is a great time to re-affirm your commitments to your health and to your life. Set yourself up for success! Ask your friends and family to support you and cut out time for reflection and relaxation. Cleansing with a friend or family member is another great way to get supported. We believe in you!
How active can I be during my juice cleanse?
Please remember to take it slow during your cleanse. Treat yourself to a massage, sauna or simply take a hot bath. We recommend that you keep your exercise regimen to a moderate level and use good judgment whenever you’re exerting yourself on a juice cleanse.
Can I do longer than a 7 day cleanse?
You can cleanse for any duration of time. The longer the juice cleanse, the longer your body can relax and heal itself. We find that cleanses often get easier the longer you do them, with the first day or two being the most difficult. However if you decide to do a cleanse for more than 10 days, we recommend that it should be monitored by a healthcare professional.
How often can I do a juice cleanse?
As often as you like! It really depends how well you can incorporate it into your lifestyle and how it makes you feel. A general maintenance diet should include at least 4 detox programs a year, ideally during the change of seasons. Doing it more times a year can make a big difference not only for health, but also for the quality of our lives. We find many of our customers do quick maintenance programs once a month, and some incorporate 1day of only juices weekly.
A good 3-7 day juice cleanse is the best way to eliminate toxins from the body. Shorter cleanses are great and will make a difference, however, sometimes they can’t get to the root of the chronic problem. A good juice cleanse should clean our excess mucous, old fecal matter, trapped cellular and non-food waste, and inorganic mineral deposits that are part of arthritis.
FAQs About Our Juices
I’m allergic to nuts. Do you have nut-free products?
How long can my juices last?
Our juices are unpasteurized, therefore you should consume your juices within 3 days after you receive them to assure the highest quality. We believe in keeping it truly raw, so currently we don’t use any questionable methods that extend the shelf life of our juices.
Where are your juices made?
The juices are locally crafted every morning in our shop in Arlington Heights, IL.
Why don’t you use glass bottles?
Interestingly, plastic is a better choice for us than glass. We use PETE #1 plastic bottles for the following reasons:
- We choose plastic over recycling glass bottles to reduce exposure to allergens such as nuts and seeds in our facility.
- Plastic uses considerably less energy than glass to be recycled.
- It is dramatically lighter than other bottle options, which means less fuel is used to create and deliver each bottle.
- We found that customers rarely chose to return glass bottles back.
Why does the juice sometimes look or taste slightly inconsistent?
Our juices are all handcrafted in individual batches, so variations may occur at times. Our juices have no additives, and only additives can prevent the natural settling process. Before drinking, be sure to give your juice a nice shake. Juices with apple and Swiss chard may vary in color. A majority of the time, we get Rainbow Swiss Chard to assure a higher variety of vitamins, which usually changes the color of juice. Depending on the harvest and growing season, apples have varying amounts of polyphenols, antioxidants, and enzymes which, in turn, can cause differences in the coloration of the juice. Because we use the freshest ingredients available to us at all times of the year, the juice can vary in color each time you purchase it.
How should I store my juice?
Keep juices refrigerated until you’re ready to consume them.
