The Power of Affirmations

What is the purpose of your life? What do you hope to accomplish? How do you intend to do it? Questions like these are challenging. We can look at them separately but find that together, they have one thing in common, requiring action.

When intending to do something, we can instantly think of a million reasons why we would like to see it happen and then get overwhelmed trying to determine the best first step to get there. This is where action plays an important role.

One way to help ensure you are working positively towards your goals or intentions is to use affirmations.

What is an affirmation? A positive statement of what you wish to be true, stated in a way that it is already true. They are used to bring focus and intention to our lives. You can create new ones daily, or work with one for a period of time until it becomes a naturally occurring mindset. Keep them positively charged and simple. For example, “I am healthy” as opposed to “I am not sick”.

Repeat your affirmations throughout each day and spend a few minutes focusing
on and feeling what you are creating for yourself. Write them in your journal, say them out loud, or repeat them to yourself. When you’re faced with a challenge, turn your attention towards the affirmation for the day.

You can write out your affirmations and leave them in a spot where you will be reminded to practice them every day. Inside your medicine cabinet, on the fridge or in your office are all great places to keep them available for reference.

Be creative! Be bold! Affirmations range from, “I am healthy and well” to “I am a successful business owner” to “My life is positive and abundant”. Don’t be afraid to make true statements that seem extreme. As long as you are aligned with what you wish to be true and believe it, you will generate energy towards making your wishful truths a reality.

I am happy. I am healthy. I am whole.
